About MindsZoo
"Their degrees weren't my focus. I wanted to know about their failures, their learnings, and how they turned their struggles into lessons that could change lives," says Alex, Founder.
"MindsZoo, founded by Alex Clayton in 2021, is more than just a business; it's the culmination of personal battles and victories. After facing numerous personal setbacks, Alex realized her experiences could serve as a guiding light for others. 'Having gone through my own share of challenges, including some very difficult and even dark times often resulting from my own choices, I've learned invaluable lessons. My lived experiences, especially the painful ones, have given me insights that I believe can support and guide others facing similar issues,' Alex says. At the core of MindsZoo is the belief in acceptance and the importance of self-esteem.”
Turning this vision into reality wasn't easy. Alex recalls, "I scrounged up every bit of money I could find, from crumpled dollar bills to change from my car's cup holders. I rented a storage unit and set up a basic workspace. It was bare bones, but it was the start of something real."
As the scope of MindsZoo expanded to cover a broader range of mental health issues, Alex focused on building a team not just of professionals but of individuals with lived experiences. "Their degrees weren't my focus. I wanted to know about their failures, their learnings, and how they turned their struggles into lessons that could change lives," Alex explains.
